Project: Eden’s Garden

With over 100K DOWNLOADS for the Prologue Chapter in 3 MONTHS, Project: Eden's Garden is a Free-To-Play video game inspired by the popular visual novel series known as Danganronpa. While this game will be heavily influenced by the property, it will be an original story with diverse characters and gameplay experiences. It is being released in chapters and the Prologue is out now!

I am the Sound Lead for the project, the one who creates sounds for UI and actions in the game. I am also responsible for the editing of all dialogue voiced by 17 talented voice actors. All of my audio work is implemented using FMOD.

Polaroid

Polaroid is a survival-horror prototype made by ShadeCR. In it, you play the renowned Detective Alec Palmer, who mysteriously found a Cameroid that once you take pictures with it, they move in real-time. You later realize that you weren't the only owner of this Camera, and soon discover that the places you end up in don't seem to be as friendly as they might seem to be...

I created the sounds related to the monster in this game, from the disgusting footsteps it makes to the horrifying moans and growls.

Content Creators

Content Creation on YouTube and over platforms has exploded over the past several years with the quality and notoriety of traditional media. Personalities in many different fields rise to the top and entertain and inform.

My experience working with content creators of different sizes has allowed me to network with some of the biggest names in esports and influencers with large followings such as LeTigress, a competitive League of Legends caster and host for top-level tournaments.

Check out some of the sounds I’ve made for different content creators!

Yggdrasil Roast

Based on the Norse myth of Yggdrasil and its otherworldly inhabitants. Play as the squirrel, Ratatoskr, on his quest to destroy the world tree. Choose insults within the roots of the tree and deliver them between the dragon, Nidhogg at the base, and the hawk, Vedrfolnir in the canopy. Once their anger reaches its zenith, the tree, and the world, will come crashing down. Look out for the meanest insults on each path.

For this Global Game Jam 2023 entry, I worked with a team of 3 other jammers to make the sound effects and music for this silly 48-hour game.

Funky Monkeys

Help Brice join forces with different Monkeys who hold certain enhanced senses to unravel the puzzles preventing you from reaching the coveted Purple Banana! The game consists of 2D grade-based puzzles that require players to combine strengths with different monkeys to unveil different things on the map.

For this GMTK 2021 Game Jam entry, I recorded and designed all of the sound effects in the game. These sounds range from footsteps for the monkeys to sound cues for the puzzles.

Bea-Versus!

Beavers are prolific builders and create dams as a protection against predators, and to provide easy access to food during winter. In habitats, zookeepers will intentionally destroy dams to keep the beavers active. In this fun 3-v-1 multiplayer party game, you either team up to build a dam as high as possible as the beavers, or singlehandedly bring the dam to its knees as the zookeeper.

For this Global Game Jam 2020 entry, I recorded and design all of the sounds and music on-site during the game jam. This included the sounds for the beavers and zookeeper, the branches, actions, and stingers for victory!

Viking Village Implementation

Off the shore of a putrid lake and sitting at the foot of the ravenous mountains, this Viking Village sits alone and empty waiting for some weary traveler to come and make their own adventure.

This Unity Demo has been the staple of many starting sound designers’ journey into implementation with FMOD and Unity. Here you can check out my version of this classic first to learn from with ambient sounds, footsteps, water along the shore, wolves in the distance, and the sound of a bustling bar.

Nullpomino (Tetris) Implemenation

Nullpomino is an open-source Tetris clone that was used by pro-level block stackers for a quicker and faster alternative to the guideline Tetris games. This game is fast-paced and infinitely customizable.

As someone not pleased with the default sounds of the game, I dug into the files of the game and found all of the sound files for the game in a folder. I decided to remake the sounds for this game and reimplement them into the folders by keeping the same file names

Synthesis

“I was never worried that synthesizers would replace musicians. First of all, you have to be a musician in order to make music with a synthesizer.” ~Robert Moog

Synthesis is the foundation of both very simple and quite complex sound design. It is a world with endless possibilities and infinite outcomes. The sounds you make are only limited by your knowledge of the systems and the creativity of the human mind.

Check out some samples of different types of synthesis work I’ve done!

Theatrical Sound

All the world’s is a stage, and you and I are merely players. Or even potentially designers. Moments on the stage are made by not just the actors but also those who have designed the scene and atmosphere of that moment. While some sounds can be fabricated by an orchestra, sometimes you need a specific sound for that moment.

Theatrical sound design is a field I have enhanced in a couple of different local productions. From Beauty and the Beast to Music Man, I have designed the highest quality sounds for various important moments while remaining optimized for the theater’s sound system.

Check out this example from a production of Beauty and Beast I worked on!

Field Recording

Some sounds can’t be made in the studio or in the computer. Sometimes, one must trek into the open wild world and find the truest version of the sound they are looking for. The world is literally your oyster if you are willing to go out there and find it.

Field recording is a fundamental part of my workflow as I am always prepared to record anything on the go. Having a field recording and shotgun microphone on hand means you’re always ready to capture the fleeting moments that will never be heard by human ears ever again.

Check out some samples from my experience recording in wide world!

Redesigns

Check out this small selection of redesigns I’ve done of clips from video games and short films. These are not the original sounds for these clips, but my own interpretation of the sounds.

The Fundamentals of Sound Design Course

For my senior project, I wanted to offer a class/workshop for students on campus to attend if they wanted to learn about the field of sound design.  This course covered the history of sound design, basic concepts, foley, sampling, synthesis, and integration.

The first three lessons were done in person. Due to COVID-19, the majority of my senior project had to be done online, and those courses were recorded. You can view the lessons taught in
